This single malt was distilled in 1963 and bottled in 1990, aged 26 years. Too good not to share, the remaining 53 bottles have been released from the Glen Moray archives in 2006. The labels have been recreated to be as faithful to the original design as possible, making this beautiful spirit available to enjoy once more.
Bright golden amber.
Heady and aromatic! Smooth and incredibly sweet with notes of almonds and hazelnuts coated in chocolate fudge, and fudgey toffee sauce poured generously over rich vanilla ice cream. Through the sweetness, subtle herbal notes of dried parsley and mint with traces of liquorice and aniseed are also found. Finally, a mixed fruit bowl of peaches, pears, bananas, cherries and juicy pineapples lingers on the nose.
Further creamy notes emerge with the addition of water, releasing layers of chocolate fudge filled with cherries and nuts, hazelnut spread in a shell of chocolate praline and vanilla ice-cream with butterscotch sauce. As the fruitiness is rediscovered and mingles with the creamy notes, summer fruit ice cream, strawberries and cream, blueberries and sweet digestives appear. Finally, hot toddy notes of honey and lemon can be detected with hints of nutmeg, allspice and black pepper.
Full-bodied and sweet as lemons and orange peel mingled with apricots and cherries are surrounded by creamy vanilla fudge. Further sweetness is discovered as chocolate praline with a lightly drying note of cocoa powder. Under this, dried pineapples, mangoes and coconut emerge to add an exotic flavour, and the spiciness found on the nose can be detected as a hint of cinnamon in the background.
Lightly drying finish with fudgey notes, apricots and figs.
